Dr. Christos Kozyrakis
Founding Advisor - Computer Architecture

Christos is an Assistant Professor at Stanford University 's Electrical Engineering and Computer Science department. His research areas include computer architectures, runtime environments, and programming models for parallel and multi-core systems. His current work focuses on transactional memory, architectural support for security, and power management techniques. He was the principal architect of the Intelligent RAM chip at UC Berkeley, and has built several other prototype systems for research.

Christos received a Ph.D. in Computer Science from UC Berkeley, working under the supervision of Professor Dave Patterson. He got his start in computer systems research at FORTH ( Greece ) working with Professor Manolis Katevenis, a pioneer of VLSI RISC architectures. He has published over 60 articles in refereed journals and conferences. He is a senior member of the ACM. For more information about Christos' research and publications, please visit csl.stanford.edu/~christos.

Dr. Roland Premier
Founding Advisor - Speech, Voice and Signal Processing

Roland focuses his research on optimal and adaptive signal processing, fuzzy logic and neural networks. Primary application areas for his research include medical and audio signal processing including voice and speech enhancement, and communications and control systems.

Dr. Premier is an Associate Professor at the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of The University of Illinois at Chicago where he was twice awarded the Excellence in Teaching Award. Roland has written or contributed to several text books on signal processing, circuits and filters, has published numerous peer-reviewed journal articles. Additionally he has served as referee for several leading industry journals including Automatica, IEEE Transactions on Bioengineering, IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems, Theory, International Journal of Computer Engineering and numerous technical conference proceedings. Dr. Priemer took his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at the Illinois Institute of Technology, in addition to an M.S. and B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the same institution.
